Yacht Preparation for Sale

Yacht Preparation for Sale

Comprehensive pre-sale yacht preparation by our own experienced specialists: cleaning and polishing, hull and interior repairs, furniture restoration and reupholstery, and servicing of engines, generators and onboard electronics. Our mobile teams work across Europe by prior arrangement.

Master Ocean provides comprehensive yacht preparation for sale, from cleaning and cosmetic restoration to repairs of damaged components and servicing of onboard systems. All work is carried out by our own specialists with practical experience in yacht repair and refit.

We begin by assessing the yacht’s condition, known faults and intended sales timeline. Together with the owner, we identify the required work and set priorities according to technical condition, presentation, budget and the photography or viewing schedule. Preparation can involve individual tasks or a comprehensive programme of work.

Hull and exterior preparation includes washing, detailing, hull and superstructure polishing, cleaning of metal fittings and restoration of exterior surfaces. We repair damaged hull sections, fiberglass and gelcoat, address cracks and chips, restore local paintwork and repaint agreed areas. More significant damage is assessed separately to determine the necessary repair methods and working conditions.

Deck work can include teak cleaning, repair and restoration, replacement of damaged planks and renewal of seams. We also repair or replace agreed deck fittings, seals, hatches and other damaged components. Sanding and restoration methods are selected according to the condition and remaining thickness of the materials.

Interior preparation includes detailed cleaning of cabins and living areas, along with repairs to damaged panels, doors, cabinets, tables and other furniture. We restore wood surfaces, veneers, varnished and painted finishes, and fittings within the agreed scope. Where necessary, we replace individual damaged components and renew finishes.

We repair and reupholster sofas, armchairs and seating, replacing upholstery, foam and removable covers. We restore or make cushions, sunpads and backrests for interior and exterior areas, and repair seams, zips and decorative details. Materials, colours and finishes are agreed before work begins.

Technical preparation can include engine and generator diagnostics and servicing, engine oil changes, oil and fuel filter replacement, cooling system checks, impeller replacement and repairs to agreed leaks. Servicing takes account of the installed equipment, its condition and the manufacturer’s requirements. Necessary repairs and component replacements are included in the agreed quotation.

We inspect and service batteries, chargers, electrical circuits, lighting and other agreed electrical equipment. We diagnose faults and repair or replace defective components in navigation and onboard electronics, including instruments, displays, sensors and connections, depending on the installed system and the nature of the fault.

The preparation programme can also include inspection and repair of freshwater systems, pumps, plumbing, air conditioning and refrigeration. Depending on the assessment, separate work may be specified for hydraulics, thrusters, stabilisers, propellers, shafts and gearboxes. Each task is determined by the equipment’s condition and the agreed preparation scope.

Once the agreed work is completed, we prepare the yacht for photography, viewings and buyer inspections. We check the presentation of the prepared areas and the operation of serviced systems within the completed scope. Pre-sale preparation does not replace an independent pre-purchase survey; known defects and outstanding work should be accurately disclosed during the sales process.

Our mobile teams travel to your yacht across Europe by prior arrangement, working onboard at its berth or in a shipyard where conditions permit. Haul-out, access to working areas, equipment removal, transport of components and workshop work are agreed in advance where necessary.

Each project starts with an agreed scope, quotation and schedule. Additional faults identified during preparation, and any resulting work or costs, are submitted for approval before proceeding. After completion, we inspect the repaired areas and check the serviced equipment within the agreed scope.

Send us your yacht’s make, model, length and location, recent photographs of the hull, deck and interior, and details of known damage or faults to request an assessment. Include engine and generator details if servicing is required, your preparation budget, preferred completion date and planned photography or viewing dates.
