Yacht Deck Leak & Hatch Repair

Yacht Deck Leak & Hatch Repair

Deck leak investigation, hatch repairs and resealing by Master Ocean’s own technicians with practical yacht repair experience. Mobile repair teams available across Europe by prior arrangement.

Master Ocean investigates and repairs deck leaks, hatches and associated fittings on motor yachts and sailing yachts. All work is carried out by our own technicians with practical experience in yacht repair and maintenance. Our mobile repair teams travel to yachts across Europe by prior arrangement.

We investigate water ingress around deck hatches, opening portlights, deck fittings, fasteners and other deck penetrations. We review where and when water appears, inspect the accessible areas and carry out controlled water tests where appropriate to help identify the source. Water can travel away from its entry point, so further access or dismantling may be needed before the repair scope can be confirmed.

Our technicians inspect hatch seals, frames, hinges, handles, latches and closing mechanisms. We replace worn seals and faulty hardware, adjust closing mechanisms and repair or replace damaged components within the agreed scope. Replacement parts are selected to suit the hatch model and installation.

Where leaks originate from failed bedding or sealant, we remove the affected fitting or hatch frame where necessary, clean and prepare the accessible mating surfaces, and rebed or reseal the installation using materials compatible with the substrate and equipment. We assess the condition of fixings and surrounding surfaces before refitting.

We also inspect accessible areas around the leak for signs of moisture damage, corrosion or deterioration. If damaged deck core, laminate or interior materials are discovered, we explain the findings and propose the additional investigation or repairs required. Any extension of the work is agreed before proceeding.

Our mobile teams work onboard at the yacht’s berth or in a shipyard, with access and working arrangements agreed in advance. Weather conditions, surface preparation and sealant curing times are taken into account when planning the work. Where openings need temporary protection or components require workshop repairs, arrangements are agreed beforehand.

Before starting, we define the scope and prepare a quotation, taking account of parts availability, access and your preferred schedule. Additional work and costs are submitted for approval before proceeding.

After completion and any required curing period, we check the repaired hatch or fitting for correct operation and carry out leak checks within the agreed scope. Where appropriate, this includes a controlled water test of the repaired area.

To request an assessment, send your yacht’s make, model and location, together with a description of the leak or hatch problem. Include photographs of the affected area, details of when the leak occurs, the hatch make and model if available, and your preferred completion date.
