Propeller, Shaft & Gearbox Repair
Yacht propeller, shaft and gearbox inspection, maintenance and repairs by Master Ocean’s own experienced technicians, with mobile repair teams available across Europe by prior arrangement.
Master Ocean inspects, maintains and repairs yacht propellers, shaft assemblies and marine gearboxes. All work is carried out by our own technicians with practical experience in yacht repair and maintenance. Our mobile repair teams travel to your yacht across Europe by prior arrangement, working onboard at its berth or in a shipyard. Access, lifting requirements and working conditions are agreed in advance.
We investigate unusual vibration, noise, reduced propulsion performance, shaft seal leaks and gearbox operating problems. Depending on the installation and available access, we inspect relevant components, review the reported symptoms and operating information, and identify the checks needed to determine the cause of the problem.
Propeller work can include inspection for damage, wear and corrosion, removal and refitting, and repair or replacement according to the propeller’s condition. Where balancing, geometry checks or workshop machining are required, we assess the requirements and agree the scope before proceeding.
We inspect shafts, couplings, shaft bearings and seals for wear, damage and leakage. Depending on the findings, work may include bearing and seal replacement, coupling repairs, shaft alignment checks and alignment adjustments. Where shaft removal or haul-out is necessary, the arrangements are agreed in advance.
Marine gearbox services can include fault investigation, oil and filter changes where applicable, leak repairs and replacement of faulty components. If internal inspection, dismantling or workshop repair is required, we define the necessary work after assessing the gearbox and available service information.
Each project begins with a review of your yacht’s propulsion system, the reported problem and the available maintenance history. We prepare a quotation and agree the scope, parts and schedule before starting. Additional work and costs are submitted for approval before proceeding.
After completing the work, we check the repaired or serviced components for correct operation and leaks, as applicable to the agreed scope. Checks under load and any sea trial are arranged where appropriate, with suitable operating conditions agreed in advance.
To request an assessment, send your yacht’s make, model, length and current location, together with details of the engines, gearboxes and shaft installation where available. Include a description of the problem, relevant photographs, any fault codes and your preferred completion date.
