Fiberglass & Gelcoat Repair

Fiberglass & Gelcoat Repair

Fiberglass and gelcoat repairs for yacht hulls, decks and superstructures by our own experienced technicians. Our mobile repair teams work across Europe by prior arrangement, repairing cracks, chips, impact damage and damaged laminate within an agreed scope.

Master Ocean repairs fiberglass structures and gelcoat surfaces on yacht hulls, decks and superstructures. All work is carried out by our own technicians with practical experience in yacht repair and refit.

We assess cracks, chips, scratches, impact damage and areas of damaged or separated laminate before proposing a repair. The inspection helps distinguish surface defects from damage affecting the underlying structure. Where necessary, moisture checks or further investigation are included to establish the extent of the problem.

Our fiberglass services include local laminate repairs, removal and replacement of damaged material, and restoration of the repaired area’s shape and surface. If damage affects a sandwich construction, we assess the condition of the core and include its repair or replacement where required. Structural repairs follow the relevant repair specification, with surveyor involvement and inspections arranged where applicable.

Gelcoat repairs include filling and restoring chipped or damaged areas, repairing suitable surface cracks, and finishing the repaired surface. We assess the cause of cracking before treatment, as movement or underlying laminate damage may require additional repairs.

Colour and finish matching are assessed before work begins, taking into account the existing gelcoat’s age, fading and condition. Sanding and polishing are carried out as appropriate to blend the repaired area with the surrounding surface. Where repainting or a more extensive finish restoration is needed, this is quoted separately or included in the agreed scope.

Suspected osmosis, widespread delamination or persistent moisture requires assessment before a repair plan is agreed. Any drying period, additional preparation or wider repair requirements are discussed before proceeding.

Our mobile repair teams travel to your yacht across Europe by prior arrangement. Depending on the location and extent of the damage, work is carried out at its berth, in a shipyard or another suitable work area. Repairs below the waterline and work requiring dry access are carried out ashore. Access, haul-out, protection of nearby surfaces and suitable working conditions are agreed in advance where necessary.

Each project starts with a defined scope, quotation and schedule. Additional damage discovered during preparation, and any resulting extra work or costs, are submitted for approval before proceeding. After completion, we inspect the repaired area and check the surface finish and any other items specified within the agreed scope.

Send us your yacht’s make, model, length and location, together with close-up and wider photographs of the damaged area. Include a description of the damage, any previous repairs or survey findings, and your preferred completion date to request an assessment.
